Joshua Tree National Park

Another oasis is Cottonwood Spring near the southern border of the Park. For centuries the Spring was a seasonal hunting and gathering location for the Native Americans who lived in the valley. Later the Spring, shaded by cottonwood trees, was a stopover for freight haulers, prospectors and other desert travelers.
