This film is a twist on the fairy tale Snow White with eight professors rather than seven dwarfs. It seems that Gary Cooper morphs into the prince. In any event he and Barbara Stanwyk fit their roles just right.
The cemetery audience loved the clever plot and dialogue. Near the end of the film the professors, reminiscing, sing Genevieve and the cemetery audience joins in.
The audience was wonderful. True film buffs, happy and respectful of the 1940s humor. A rare cigarette was sometimes visible in the dark. This seemed to be a thoughtful crowd of young people with upscale careers, many Hollywood-connected.
My guess is that if half of this audience stayed home the next working day --- Hollywood would shut down.
