SPACE We leave Acoma, the "Sky City," by following, from the top of the high mesa, a precarious once secret trail, centuries old. The next three pages show our farewell to Acoma.

SPACEOn our way to El Morro we visit the large natural arch La Ventanaand then the strange ice cave at the foot of Bandera Volcano. We were unable to follow the ancient Zuni - Acoma trail across El Malpais(the badlands) in our modern car so we drove to Grants, NM, and then on toward our goal, El Morro, where 15 years before the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth Rock a European explorer engraved his name --- and nearly 400 years later I photographed his inscription, a photograph you will see later.
