Copper Canyon page 17

From our train window we could see the mountains that surrounded us as we climbed on hairpin curves and traversed on switchbacks. In one case we could look down and see where the train had made a complete 180 degree turn. Another 180 degree turn is made inside a solid rock tunnel.

The railroad is an engineering masterpiece. The tortuous route from sea level to over 8000 feet took nearly one hundred years to complete.

We finally reached our destination and were driven by a van to the Mirador Hotel.
